DiskDigger-Android App To Recover Deleted Photos

DiskDigger is categorized in the Tools section of the Google Play Store. The app’s content is fit for ages 3+. This app requires a minimum OS of Android 4.0 and up. Unlike the Windows OS and the iOS, the Android OS doesn’t provide a data recycling option. This means that once you delete a file on an Android device, that file cannot be recovered no matter what, whereas on a Windows or Apple device, this feature is available.

DiskDigger is an application which helps you to recover your deleted images. There is a basic version of the app which is available for free. There is a pro version as well which can be downloaded for ₹ 189.8. The difference between the two is:

  1. Basic Version – The Basic version allows you to recover deleted images without having to root your device. However, if the device is rooted, you can even recover deleted videos as well.
  2. Pro Version – The Pro Version allows you to recover other file types as well and not just pictures. Again, the files which can be recovered depend upon if or not your device is rooted.

DiskDigger is developed by Defiant Technologies, LLC. The Android application is 2.3 MB in size. 87,514 users have given it an average rating of 3.3/5. It has been downloaded by 100,000,000+ users.

Pros of the Application

  • It allows you to recover deleted images without the need of rooting your device.
  • You can filter the files displayed based on their size.
  • By just selecting all the files you need to recover and pressing the ‘Recover’ icon, you can restore all the required files.
  • The app allows you to store these files in any folder on the internal or external memory.
  • You can even directly upload these images to Google Drive or Dropbox.

Cons of the Application

  • When you browse through the images that can be recovered, the app even displays the files which have not been deleted. Thus, you have to scroll through a lot of images to find the ones which you need.
  • If a device isn’t rooted, the app doesn’t allow recovering deleted videos. Other similar apps provide this feature without the need of a rooted device.

Function

When looking for photos that can be recovered, DiskDigger goes through the cache files and the thumbnails on your device. Thus, if you are using a cache cleaner on your device, the app cannot trace the deleted files and you won’t be able to recover the images.

To find the deleted files that can be recovered, users have to command the app to start scanning the cache and thumbnails. The app provides two scanning options based on if or not your device is rooted:

  1. If the device is rooted, you can use the “full scan” option. The app will browse through all your device memory to find the deleted files that can be recovered.
  2. Whereas if the device is not rooted, you can only use the “basic scan” option. In this case, the app can only access the cache files and thumbnails to restore deleted images.

After you start the scanning, the app starts to display all the files that can be restored. Now all you have to do is checkmark the required files and click on the ‘recover’ icon. All the images will be directly stored in your device.
